Posted on 08/10/2020
Online-Only ImagePerkins Local School District will allow students to attend lessons via an Online-Only Option, regardless of the district’s plan to have classes in-person or remote for the start of the school year.

The deadline to register for the Online-Only Option has been extended to Friday, Aug. 21.

The Online-Only Option will be available via North Point Educational Service Center’s Schools PLP program for Grades K-8, and via Perkins High School’s existing Online Academy for Grades 9-12.

The Perkins Local School District Board of Education voted on Aug. 3 to have students attend lessons in-person, five days a week. The Board reaffirmed that on Wednesday, Aug. 12, when it voted not follow a recommendation by the Erie County Health Department to start the school year remote.

Students enrolled in the Online-Only option must stick with the curriculum through the end of the quarter.

So what does the Online-Option look like?

The online-only option includes daily lessons and exercises to engage students, testing and evaluations, and parental involvement and monitoring. Depending on staff availability, some Perkins Schools teachers may be involved in Grade K to 8 curriculum, lessons, and daily instruction.
