Local school districts have been working together, in conjunction with the Erie County Health Department, to create a unified plan for reopening in the upcoming school year with consideration to the unique circumstances of each school district.

District leaders recognize the need for children to be in school. While all districts can provide adequate remote learning opportunities, there is no substitute for face-to-face interaction with high quality educators and support personnel, such as school counselors and social workers.

Area districts are committed to creating an educationally sound delivery model, but also adhering to the guidelines set forth by local, state, and federal health agencies.

As we continue to plan, our top priority is the health and safety of our students and faculty. We will continue to use the most current scientific data to inform our decisions as we collaborate, share information, and review plans with local health officials to protect the school community.

We have created a comprehensive plan for infection prevention and mitigation measures, with the understanding that it is subject to change based on the release of official guidance from the Ohio Department of Health and the Ohio Department of Education.

The main pillars of our plan revolve around symptom assessment, social distancing, face coverings, hand hygiene, and cleaning protocols. Each district is committed to communicating their individual plans throughout the month of July. We will continue to review and update our plan as official guidance is released.
